Komaba is an independent product company in Stockholm. We make and run our own products: software for everyday life and work, and objects for the home.
Different things, one idea: what we live with every day deserves to be made well.

No. 02
In Swedish, a sambo is the person you share a home with. Sambo is an app for the practical side of that life — money, lists, dates and papers — so there is more room for the rest.

No. 03
A workspace for communicators in municipalities, regions, agencies and other public organisations. Plan, write, review, publish and follow up in one place. Plain language and accessibility are built in, because public information has to work for everyone.
On the surface, they have little in common. What connects them is where they end up: in a home, in a life two people share, in someone’s working day. Get those everyday things right, and ordinary days get a little better.
Good things are allowed to take time.
The building can be quick these days. The deciding shouldn’t be. We take our time over what is worth making, how it should feel the hundredth time you use it, and whether it is good enough to put our name on.
Once something is out in the world, we stay with it. We keep running it, and we keep making it better. We would rather make a few things for a long time than many things for a short one.
Komaba駒場
Komaba is a neighbourhood in Tokyo, home to the Japan Folk Crafts Museum. The museum was founded in 1936 by Sōetsu Yanagi, who believed that ordinary things, made well for daily use, deserve as much care as anything in a gallery.
We borrowed the name for that idea, not for a look. Japanese architecture, design and craft have taught us a great deal, and the lesson we keep coming back to is a simple one. Something you use daily should be made properly, whether it is a bowl or an app.
